Musings

I finally posted the 9 month birthday post...a month late.  I had it written for a month, but it took me that much longer to get around to uploading the pictures.  So if you don't subscribe to the blog in Google Reader (it came across my Google Reader), click here to go read about Harper's 9th month.  I don't know if it shows up in other feed readers if it's backdated.  The 10 month post is written as well, but we forgot to take her picture last night before bed (the meltdown after bath threw us off), so I haven't taken, nor uploaded, her 10 month pictures.  Hopefully, I can do that sometime this weekend.  Who am I kidding, let's hope for next week!  Check back for that post.  It will be dated June 17th no matter if it's September when it gets posted.  Also, check out the sidebar.  I updated the Baby Watch to include a 9 month picture.

Is it really this hot already outside?  I can't believe it's only mid-June & it's 100 degrees.  4 years ago, the first day over 100 was July 15 (I know this because it's the day I got married).  The summer just seems to get hotter & hotter, earlier & earlier each year.  We've learned that Harper is a head sweater (as in sweaty, not as in cardigan) like her Mom & Dad.  I'm sorry that we passed that trait on!  It will drive her crazy throughout her life.  But at least she'll be able to look back at her wedding pictures & say, "Wow, I was the second sweatiest bride there ever was.  My mom was the first."  Ha!

We went to breakfast last weekend with our dear friends, the Wakefields, & had such a wonderful time.  Travis is such a sweetheart & was just delightful.  Harper was a bit whiny/clingy & wouldn't sit in the highchair (the adorable, expensive highchair cover wasn't enough to persuade her), but we had a great time nonetheless.  And she definitely ate half my grits, half the avocado off my omelette, & alot of the cheerios & cheese we brought.  That girl is loving her table food these days!  My point is that this is one of my favorite candid pictures we've taken of Harper recently.  This perfectly portrays what she is up to.  She is constantly grabbing & swiping at us & really testing how much we will let her do.  She didn't waste a moment to reach out & get her a piece of Travis.  And look how sweet Travis is being just letting her do that.  Those nails are sharp too!  If anyone has any tips on clipping the nails of a 10 month old, I'm all ears.  I seem to only be able to get one at a time & they grow so darn fast!

  1. i have to constantly ask hank questions and ramble on about nothing while i clip his nails..."where's murphy? whoa, is that baseball on tv? let's sing, a, b, c etc.." i think all the craziness coming out of my mouth keeps him distracted enough for the 3 minutes i need to get the fingernails cut! toenails often go undone though...he finally gets sick of me before i get to them ;-)
